Primrose Wilson was appointed President of Portadown Ladies Choir in August 2014.
Primrose trained as a nurse in the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast and is married to Edward and they have three children and eight grandchildren.
She served three terms as President of Portadown Business & Professional Women’s Club and has served BPW in regional and national office. For several years she was involved in organising the BPW Public Speaking Competition for Schools in Northern Ireland and for the whole of the UK.
Primrose has a long standing interest in Ireland’s built heritage; she initiated and organised European Heritage Open Days (EHOD) from 1997-2001. She and her husband, Edward, live in a listed building which they open every year for EHOD. She is the founding Chairman of the Follies Trust which was formed in 2006.
In 1997 Primrose was awarded an OBE for services to conservation and the Historic Buildings Council. In 2001 she was made an honorary member of the Royal Society of Ulster Architects for services to architecture. In January 2007 Primrose was made a CBE for services to conservation.
She was delighted to be invited to be President of Portadown Ladies Choir in 2014 but does not sing except in the shower.
